Students from Mr Meur’s NZIC biology classes use iPads to support their learning. On one occasion, students worked together using modelling clay to make some videos to explain cell division. In another class the students used the iPads to investigate and then take photos of cell structure and the process of osmosis.
Using an iPad promotes communication and collaboration between the students. They were able to share their ideas and findings in the development and publication of their videos and photographs. Using the iPads also helps the students to think in new ways, and become more confident in the analysis of data and synthesis of their work. At the same time, they enjoy learning new skills, skills that will prepare them for study at university.
