On March 8, thirteen students met Mr Lui at the Ferry Building in Downtown Auckland for a trip to Devonport on the North Shore of Auckland. It was a mixed and dynamic group. The students were from six different countries - China, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Surprisingly, they were also from different programmes at ACG City Campus - ACG NZIC The University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies, ACG Norton College AUT Certificate in Foundation Studies and the ACG English school. The group visited Devonport Beach, Mt Victoria, the Devonport Cricket club, Torpedo Bay and the pier, the Navy Museum and North Head. They had a picnic lunch by the Devonport beach, enjoying the ‘Fish’n Chips’ from a well-known local store.
“This was a fantastic trip,” said Mr Lui, and judging by the following comments, the students thought so, too. “The good thing about a trip like this is meeting new people.” “The views from Mt Victoria and North Head are breath- taking.” “I did a lot of exercises today.” “I am becoming more independent. I am very proud of myself.” “I must tell my parents about this trip.” “We should go for outdoor activities more often.”
The sunshine, the magic of Devonport and the dynamics of the group combined to make this a most enjoyable trip across the beautiful waters of the Waitemata.
