Gabrielle stuns with WORLD GAMES RECORD!
Gabrielle Faamausili swum the race of her life to qualify for the final of the 50m backstroke on day four of the World Junior Championships.

The thirteen year old from Auckland smashed her personal best time in the heats to clock 28.14. She broke the NZ Open record held by 2010 Pan Pacific Championship bronze medallist Emily Thomas, and bettered the games record, qualifying for the semi-final in first place.

amausili stepped up to produce another solid swim in the semi-final, finishing with a time of 28.68 that ranks her third entering the final at 2am NZ time tomorrow morning.

Team-mate Bobbie Gichard significantly improved her personal best time in the same event. She grabbed a ninth spot in the semi-final with a personal best time of 29.14 in the heats. Her semi-final swim was a little slower, clocking 29.59 to finish 10th.
Kiwi swimmers competing on day five include Gabrielle Faamausili in the heats of the 50m freestyle and the final of the 50m backstroke, and 17 year old Bradlee Ashby in the heats of the 400m individual medley.
