Congratulations to the students of our class of 2012 on their excellent VCE results. Once again our hardworking students  have achieved scores which contribute to some impressive ATARs and we can expect to hear that they have gained  places in the courses of their choice when the tertiary places are offered. I commend the work ethic and application  of our students and the wonderful guidance they received from their teachers. I am so pleased that the girls have achieved so well again this year because they deserve the results of their many hours of toil.

• ATARS above 99%: 14%
• ATARS above 90%: 81.7%

Sophie Wann - 99.95 - Dux of Mac.Rob in 2012
Congratulations to our Dux of 2012 - Sophie Wann, with a score of 99.95

Sophie is a most worthy candidate for Dux of Mac.Rob, 2012. Sophie studied Specialist Maths, English Language, French and Chemistry this year and completed studies in Mathematical Methods and Physics in 2011.In addition to  her Year 12 studies at school, Sophie also studied University Enhancement in Physics through Melbourne University, getting an H1. Sophie was involved in the French Exchange to Bordeaux in 2010 and the experience enhanced her French  aural and oral skills, helping her achieve at a very high level in French.

Sophie, along with Anjali Raghavan, organised a club called “World Health at MacRob” - the purpose of the club was to promote world health issues to the school community. Topics discussed included access to clean water in developing countries, cystic fibrosis and autism. Sophie and Anjali investigated topics and raised issues for discussion by the group and these discussions were regularly attended by 40 members.

Sophie has had an interest in health for a while. Her Work Experience placement during Year 11 in a suburban General Medical Practice cemented her desire to pursue a career in this field and Sophie hopes to go to Melbourne Uni to study Science followed by Medicine. Sophie is particularly interested in Physics and attended the Science Summer School in Physics at Monash University, one of only 22 students from across the state selected to attend. Sophie is hoping to continue with her studies in Physics as part of her undergraduate Science Degree.

Sophie has enjoyed her years at the school. Her fondest memory of her time at MacRob is the Valedictory evening as she felt it summed up her four years at the school and gave her an opportunity to celebrate with friends and family, with  the speeches on the night highlighting events across the four years. She has formed many friendships at the school and she and her friends have managed to extend their friendships by sharing experiences at each others’ homes. Sophie  was involved in the Good Friday Appeal each year she was at Mac.Rob with her mother also volunteering to help.

Sophie is hoping to spend some time over the holidays travelling with her family before she commences her university course.
