Community Engagement Programme & Workplaces

date:Aug 11,2012 source: editorial staff:linan clicks:

In 2006, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong launched the Community Engagement Programme (CEP) which aims to strengthen the understanding and ties between people of different races and religions and encourage different sectors of the society to pick up skills and knowledge in coping with emergencies.
The Businesses and Unions cluster is one of the five community clusters* that contribute to the CEP. The Cluster aims to build socially harmonious and secure workplaces through promoting understanding, respect and bonding between different communities, as well as strengthening preparedness and resilience of workplaces for situations that may affect harmonious working relationships.
The CEP in the Businesses and Unions cluster is led by the Tripartite Panel for Community Engagement at Workplaces. The Tripartite Panel consists of representatives from the Ministry of Manpower, National Trades Union Congress, Singapore Business Federation, Singapore National Employers Federation, Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and the ethnic chambers of commerce and industry, including Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
