New changes to UK student visa, IELTS is opening the door to UK

date:Aug 10,2012 source: editorial staff:linan clicks:

On March 23rd, the UK Government announced major changes to the student visa system, in which candidates’ English level is specifically listed as an application requirement. Candidates who are not able to communicate in English might fail to receive a visa. All the applicants for undergraduate and above programs will need to speak English at an 'upper intermediate' (B2) level. With an IELTS score of 5-5.5 a candidate could reach B2 level in the CEFR. IELTS is accepted by all UK institutions and is also considered the “preferred choice” to meet the English language proficiency entry requirement. With the new changes to the UK student visa, IELTS is opening the door to the UK and becoming the top choice for applicants.
IELTS test brings its exciting news to all IELTS candidates. The test has helped over 1,000,000 Chinese young people to realise their dream on the international stage. It will continue to focus on mutual communication with the public and provide higher-standard customer service to its candidates.
The New version of the official IELTS website and FREE preparation materials are available now.
IELTS launched its new Chinese official website (www.chinaielts.org ) this year and optimized its content and structure to make it more user-friendly. Based on user experience, IELTS is now providing more information on test preparation. For example, writing examples and speaking videos are available on the new website. Candidates can use these materials to enhance their English and develop their over-all ability. At the same time, anyone who is interested in IELTS test, or potential IELTS takers, can use the official IELTS preparation online course “Road to IELTS”.  IELTS has extended the access to all people that are interested in IELTS to help them with preparation, rather than solely to registered candidates.
IELTS on Sina Microblog, more fun, more accessible and more information.
IELTS test opened its official microblog site on Sina.com to directly communicate with the IELTS candidates and general public. The latest IELTS news will be presented to all candidates directly. This platform is a perfect channel to interact with candidates and provide advice for them. For example, in order to meet candidate’s request for more test seats, IELTS official microblog announced extra test sessions and received positive feedback from the candidates. Combining the strength of the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy, the candidates also have access to overseas study information, English learning content and more opportunities to communicate with examiners and English experts.
Global Candidates Number is over 1.5 million, and new trend found in China.
In 2010, the global candidature number has grown to 1.5 million. This number has been growing consistently since 1995.  In China, we had over 300,000 candidates throughout 2010, witnessing a new trend in the diversity of destination countries. Apart from the traditional destination countries such as the UK, USA, Australia, and Canada, there is an interesting and growing tendency for candidates to choose from a more diversified range destination countries and regions such as the Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. Hong Kong’s growth rate for example, is over 60%. Meanwhile, the numbers of USA and Canada-bound candidates increased by over 30% in the last year. The recognition in North America has been increasing rapidly.
